North West Rail – Upcoming work at The New Rouse Hill
Upcoming works in July
Residents and businesses in the Kellyville and Rouse Hill areas can expect to see the following construction activities in July 2015.
Kellyville
-
The temporary T-way commuter car park at Balmoral Road opened on 11 June.
-
61 spaces at the former Riley T-way car park is scheduled to open, along with a new dedicated kiss and ride area, on Tuesday 7 July. We will be visiting the T-way stops to inform commuters prior to the changes being implemented.
-
The Burns T-way car park will close completely from Tuesday 7 July until December 2015. Please be aware of the changes to pedestrian access at this bus stop. Signage will be installed to guide pedestrians to and from the bus stops. The closure will allow piling and pier construction to continue in this area.
-
Skytrain segments will be stored at the Balmoral Road construction site. These segments will be delivered and stored outside of standard construction hours to comply with road regulations. Local residents have been notified in relation to these deliveries.
-
Piling (drilling works) will continue in the former Riley T-way car park – this is the first stage of work for the new Kellyville Station.
-
Assembly of the launching gantry at Kellyville is nearing completion and is expected to be lifted onto piers in July. Once lifted onto the piers, the gantry will require one month of fit-out and electrical work until it begins lifting segments towards Memorial Avenue.
-
Piling work and pier construction is progressing well between Memorial Avenue and Samantha Riley Drive. Once the remaining piers in the area have been constructed, the launching gantry will begin installing concrete segments towards Memorial Avenue, forming the skytrain deck.
-
Piling and pier construction is continuing between Samantha Riley Drive and Windsor Road.
Rouse Hill
-
The launching gantry at Cudgegong Road will commence operation in July. Under environmental approvals, the gantry will operate 24/7 and lift the concrete segments onto the piers. Nearby residents will receive notification as the gantry progresses towards Windsor Road.
-
Out of hours deliveries and storage of concrete segments to 97 Schofields Road and Cudgegong Road will continue throughout July. Segments will be transported from 97 Schofields Road to Cudgegong Road for gantry operation.
-
Piling will soon start in the former Rouse Hill T-way car park and within the centre median on Windsor Road for the cable stay bridge (scheduled to start late July/early August). To minimise the impact on traffic, some activities will be undertaken outside of standard construction hours. Some traffic changes may be required, including temporary lane closures and / or detours. Traffic signs / signals will be put in place for motorists ahead of the changes.
-
Work is continuing on Rouse Hill Drive, to create a new dedicated right turn lane into Tempus Street. A temporary lane closure will be in place during these works for the safety of motorists and construction workers. Please follow all signs, the direction of traffic controllers and expect minor delays while these works are undertaken.
-
There will be temporary changes to traffic and pedestrian access at the corner of Main Street and Tempus Street, Rouse Hill Town Centre in mid July. These works are expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, subject to weather. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to follow all signage and the direction of traffic controllers.
-
A new pedestrian footpath has now opened between Sanctuary Drive and the Sanctuary T-way allowing the closure of Picket Place. This enables work for the skytrain to progress between Sanctuary Drive and White Hart Drive.
-
Piling work will soon start near the corner of White Hart Drive and Windsor Road. Potentially affected residents and businesses will be notified prior to this work commencing.
Safety message
Over the next few months, motorists travelling in the Rouse Hill and Kellyville areas will notice two white launching gantries lifting large concrete segments for the skytrain deck. These gantries will sit on top of the piers approximately 30 metres above ground and are designed to operate over live traffic.
For the safety of all road users, pedestrians and construction workers, please slow down around work sites, drive safely and keep eyes on the road.
